PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remotely control a device using as a user interface another display device which displays image onto a projection plane. SOLUTION: The remote control system includes a PC for controlling a projector and a MFP capable of remotely controlling an external device. The PC projects an operation screen received from the MFP on the projector, detects the position pointed by a user in the operation screen, and transmits to the MFP a command related to the detected position in the operation screen, and the MFP receives the command transmitted form the PC (S60, S62, S64, S66), and controls the external device or own device, in accordance with the received command (S61, S63, S65, S67).
