PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely hold the fixed state of impeller blades in a pump impeller having the impeller blades fixed to an impeller shell by caulking. SOLUTION: The impeller blades 2 are arranged while pawls 6a-6c projecting from outer peripheral edges are fitted in the hollows formed in the inner face of an annular recess of the impeller shell 10, and Ei portions of inner diameter side ends of the impeller blades 2 are fixed by caulking. The inner diameter face of a central hole 11 of the impeller shell 10 is then butt-welded to the outer peripheral face of a flange 24 of a torque converter sleeve 20. The Ei portions of the inner diameter side ends of the impeller blades 2 at the caulked parts become quenched by welding heat and have high hardness, so that even when rubbing occurs between the impeller blades 2 and the impeller shell 10 by expansion and contraction, the impeller blades 2 are not worn and the impeller blades 2 do not fall out of the impeller shell 10.
