PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake control device for an internal combustion engine, capable of diagnosing the malfunctioning of a pulsation damping device. SOLUTION: The intake control device for the internal combustion engine includes an air flow meter 50 provided in an intake pipe 12 communicated with a combustion chamber 11 of an engine 10 for detecting the pulsation of air sucked into the combustion chamber 11, a throttle position sensor 31 and a crank position sensor 33 for detecting the operating condition of the engine 10, a resonator 20 as a device for damping the pulsation in the intake pipe 12, the resonator 20 having an adjustable resonance frequency, and an engine control device 40 for controlling the resonance frequency of the resonator 20 in accordance with the outputs of the sensors 31, 33. The engine control device 40 determines whether the resonator 20 is normally actuated or not, in accordance with the pulsation in the intake pipe 12 detected by the air flow meter 50 under the condition of controlling the resonance frequency of the resonator 20 and the pulsation as a criterion set depending on the operating condition of the engine 10.
