<p>Disclosed is a plant of the Allium cepa or Allium fistulosum species and methods of making them, which is resistant to downy mildew of onion caused by the fungus Peronospora destructor (Pd) due to a Pd resistance locus, wherein the Pd resistance locus is on an introgression fragment from Allium roylei and wherein any chromosomal fragment, comprising the Pd resistance locus, can be present homozygously in progeny without causing lethality.</p> |
