PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a method of driving the same are provided to reduce power consumption by reducing heat from a timing controller. CONSTITUTION: In a liquid crystal display and a method of driving the same, a frame memory(112) stores pixel data of a current frame. The frame memory outputs the pixel data of a previous frame. A lookup table(114) compares the pixel data of the previous frame with the pixel data of the current frame. The look up table stores modulation data. A comparator(120) decides whether the pixel data of the current frame is the highest or lowest gradation data. A data selection unit(116) outputs one of modulation data and pixel data.
