PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an electrophotographic photoreceptor having at least a photosensitive layer on an aluminum support, free from an image defect due to leakage from the initial time to the time after duration. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the electrophotographic photoreceptor having at least the photosensitive layer on the aluminum support, after cleaning this aluminum support, a liquid colorant where the contact angle to the cleaned aluminum support is 20°or smaller and viscosity is 2.0 mPa s or smaller, is applied to the aluminum support, a colorant layer is disposed, and coloring is performed. A projection-like defect on a surface of the support is detected and sorted by inspection for determining it with density difference, the colorant layer is removed, and then the photosensitive layer is formed.
