PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can minimize increase in power consumption when attaching a detachable external storage device to perform the processing of the image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus which can attach the detachable external storage device includes: a connection part for detecting the attachment/detachment of the external storage device; and a power supply control part which can switch the power supply from a normal mode to a saving mode, can individually supply/interrupt power to/from an image reading part and a printing part in the image forming apparatus. The power supply control part is notified of the attachment of the external storage device from the connection part and individually supplies/interrupts power in accordance with whether a printable file is stored in the external storage device or not.
