<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting module with reduced thickness while the module prevents dust and moisture from entering the inside of the module. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting module 1 includes a surface light-emitting element 2, a wiring board 3 for feeding power to the surface light-emitting element 2, and an optical sheet 4 provided on a light-emitting surface of the surface light-emitting element 2. The wiring board 3 has a hole 8 for containing the surface light-emitting element 2. The optical sheet 4 holds the surface light-emitting element 2 and the wiring board 3 with the surface light-emitting element 2 contained in the hole 8 of the wiring board 3 and the wiring board 3 flush with each other on a light-emitting surface side. The optical sheet covers the surface light-emitting element 2 and also covers a gap formed between the surface light-emitting element 2 and the wiring board 3. The optical sheet 4 prevents dust and moisture from entering the inside of the module while holding the surface light-emitting element 2 and the wiring board 3, which eliminates the necessity for the lighting module 1 to include a casing, a packing and the like.
