PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for efficiently purifying an arginine-binding factor contained in a sample such as a cell extraction liquid or the like. SOLUTION: The purification method of an L-arginine-binding factor comprises a step of bringing a sample into contact with an L-arginine methyl ester or the like fixed to a carrier thereby to cause the L-arginine-binding factor in the sample to bond to L-arginine methyl ester or the like and a step of recovering the L-arginine-binding factor bonded to the L-arginine methyl ester or the like. The screening method of an L-arginine-like compound comprises selecting a subject substance that causes L-arginine or the like to release the L-arginine-binding factor by bringing a subject substance into contact with the conjugate composed of the L-arginine-binding factor and L-arginine or the like.
