A scarifier implement (1) for a vehicle (2) that may be raised and lowered is disclosed. A mount (3) for attaching under the vehicle (2) connects by a pivot (8) to a rigid frame (21) that extends from beneath the underside towards the rear. A holder (20) for holding at least one removable tooth or tine (5) is connected at one end of the rigid frame (21). A drive assembly (6) is attached to a bracket (51) on the rear wall of the vehicle and extends between the vehicle (2) and the holder (20), for raising and lowering the tooth or tine (5) relative to the mount (3). The drive assembly includes a hydraulic cylinder (50) having a housing (58) and a piston (59), with the housing (58) mounted to the bracket (51) by a second pivot (62) directly above the holder (20). The piston (59) is mounted to the holder (20) itself by a third pivot (72) allowing the holder (20) to be raised and lowered vertically relative to the housing (58).
