<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device with an improved brightness, and to provide a projector equipped with the same. <P>SOLUTION: The projector includes the light source device, a display element, a projector control means and the like. The light source device includes a fluorescent wheel 71 having fluorescence emission parts 1B, 1G formed with a fluorescent body layer 131 emitting a green light and a blue light in response to an excitation light received by a rotation-controllable base material, a first light source irradiating the fluorescent body layer 131 with an excitation light in the ultraviolet region, a second light source emitting a red light, a condensing optical system condensing the lights from the fluorescent wheel 71 and the light from the second light source to the same optical path, and a light source control means controlling the first light source and the second light source separately. The light source control means generates a white light by turning the second light source on when the first light source emits the light to include a time period in which the light from the first light source is irradiated onto one of boundaries between the fluorescence emission parts 1B, 1G and by synthesizing the green and blue lights from the fluorescent wheel 71 with the red light from the second light source. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
