<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lanthanum boride sintered compact which contains less amounts of oxygen and carbon suitable as a target, has high purity, and which is improved density without using a sintering agent. <P>SOLUTION: The lanthanum boride sintered compact having a carbon content of below 0.1 mass%, an oxygen content of below 0.5 mass% and a relative density of ≥93% is obtained by a method for producing the lanthanum boride sintered compact comprising (a) a mixing step for obtaining a powdery mixture of lanthanum boride powder A having an average particle diameter of 1-5 μm, a carbon content of below 0.1 mass%, and an oxygen content of below 1.0 mass% and lanthanum boride powder B having an average particle diameter of 50-500 nm, and (b) a sintering step for sintering the powdery mixture obtained by the step (a). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
