PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus or the like for manufacturing a rod lens, in which trouble or the like of a cutting device due to loosening of a rod lens is suppressed. SOLUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing the rod lens includes: spinning devices 12, 14, 16 which continuously spin the rod lens L1; and the cutting device which cuts the rod lens into a predetermined length. The cutting device includes: a cutting mechanism 28 which intermittently operates; and a nip roller 30 which is disposed upstream of the cutting mechanism and stops feeding while the cutting device operates. The nip roller is of a friction type in which the outer peripheral part runs idle with respect to a central shaft when a predetermined torque is applied on the outer peripheral part. When the outer peripheral part feeds the rod lens to the cutting device, the nip roller rotates so as to feed the rod lens of a length longer than the total of the length of the rod lens supplied from the spinning devices while the feeding of the rod lens stops and the length of the rod lens supplied from the spinning devices in the time until a next feeding stop.
