PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier having higher durability of a coating layer compared to a conventional carrier and produced in a dry process. SOLUTION: The carrier 10 for electrostatic charge image development includes a core material 12 and a coating layer formed by depositing conductive particles 16 and organic resin particles 14, and is characterized in that: the coating layer has voids 18; the resin of the organic resin particles 14 exhibits, in the measurement of dynamic viscoelasticity at a shear rate of 3.14 rad/sec and a temperature change condition of 2°C/min, a storage modulus G' of not more than 1.2×10<SP>5</SP>Pa when a tanδ, which is a ratio of a loss modulus G" to a storage modulus G', becomes minimum; and the carrier for electrostatic charge image development has an electric resistance of not more than 10<SP>11</SP>Ωcm in an electric field of 500 V/cm.
