PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of cleaning a rail head top surface and a wheel tread surface by use of compressed air, and a device thereof, for efficiently cleaning by jetting compressed air onto the rail head top surface and the wheel tread surface during deceleration, in a railroad vehicle running at high speed. SOLUTION: In the method of cleaning the rail head top surface and the wheel tread surface by use of compressed air, the rail head top surface 1A is cleaned by jetting compressed air from a nozzle 15 for the rail head top surface installed on a rail guard 5, and the wheel tread surface 3A is cleaned by jetting compressed air from a nozzle 17 for the wheel tread surface disposed under the floor 2A of the railroad vehicle or on a bogie frame 4, during deceleration of the railroad vehicle 2.
