PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydrosilyl compound from a Si-H group-containing silicon compound and an allyl carboxylate as raw materials, by which the production of by-products can be reduced to give the (highly pure) product having a high objective silsesquioxane compound content, and by which the irregularity of the purity of the product can be reduced. SOLUTION: The method for producing the hydrosilyl compound by the hydrosilylation reaction of the Si-H group-containing silicon compound with the allyl carboxylate is characterized by including a process for contacting the Si-H group-containing silicon compound with the allyl carboxylate compound having an amount of 2 to 100 moles (converted into the allyl groups) per mole of the Si-H group of the Si-H group-containing silicon compound.
