The method involves producing an input angle (deltaG) of a steering gear (4) of an electronic servo steering system (1) of a motor vehicle with an auxiliary angle (deltaM) from an overlay of a steering wheel angle (deltaS). The input angle of the steering gear is converted into a wheel guidance angle (deltaFm) for a guidable wheel (5a) of the motor vehicle. A current vehicle-specific variable and/or a current environmental condition are considered by an utilizable function during determination of a variable gear ratio.
