PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the distal end of an original 42 abuts to the distal end of an original scooping member 55 and a conveying jam of the original 42 occurs in an image reader such as a scanner. SOLUTION: The image reader includes a read glass 50 for ADF where a fed original 42 is moved from the upstream side to the downstream side, a read sensor 54 covered with the read glass 50 for the ADF for reading the traveling original 42, an original guide member 55 provided with one end part 55d and the other end part 55a and arranged on the downstream side of the read glass 50 for the ADF to guide the original 42 moving along the read glass 50 for the ADF, and a deformable projection part 55c provided on one end part 55d of the original guide member 55 and brought into press contact with the read glass 50 for the ADF.
