摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that the hydrocarbon adsorption amount is lowered after hydrothermal endurance in the case adsorption purification treatment of hydrocarbons in exhaust gas of automobile by using a hydrocarbon adsorbent containing a zeolite. SOLUTION: The adsorbent for hydrocarbons in exhaust gas of an automobile containing SUZ-4 zeolite; particularly, the adsorbent for hydrocarbons in exhaust gas of an automobile containing SUZ-4 zeolite having a molar ratio of SiO<SB>2</SB>/Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>not lower than 10 and not higher than 16, a ratio of protons to the exchangeable cations not lower than 70%, and an average particle diameter of 0.5 &mu;m or more; keeps high hydrocarbon absorption capability even after hydrothermal endurance. The molar ratio of SiO<SB>2</SB>/Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>is more preferably not lower than 10 and not higher than 14; the ratio of protons to the exchangeable cations not lower than 90%; and an average particle diameter of 1 &mu;m or more.
