1,206,435. Securing compressible insulating material. I. S. KAHLER & CO. 15 Nov., 1967 [15 Nov., 1966], No. 52054/67. Heading E1W. Compressible material such as insulating material underlying a waterproof layer is fastened to a roof by clips having a foot plate 3 and a retaining flange 1 connected by a stem 2 which is constructed readily to collapse or compress to a shorter length when axially loaded, so that the fastener will not accidentally penetrate the waterproof layer. In Fig. 2 a fold 2 provides the ready compressibility of the stem whilst in Fig. 5 the stem is formed in two relatively slidable parts having slot and rivet connection 5, 6. In Fig. 4 the stem 2 is weakened by notches 7 to achieve ready compressibility. Other modifications are described, including arrangements in which the stem of each clip is formed of soft metal such as zinc or is of very thin material. |
