<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device designed so as to prevent nonuniform development density, fog, blur and so on, which are likely to occur when development of a large size is carried out after a large quantity of development of a small size is carried out or when a large number of images of different print proportions are developed. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device includes: a developing roller 4 which is subject to the application of a development bias of a prescribed level, which forms a thin layer of non-magnetic one-component toner on its surface and brings the thin layer into contact with an image carrier drum 1, thereby developing a latent image formed on the image carrier drum 1, and which is conductive and elastic in at least surface layer; a conductive supply brush roller 7 which is disposed so that the nap of the brush 14 is in contact with the circumferential face of the developing roller 4, which is subject to the application of a supply bias of potential higher than the development bias, and which is used to supply toner to the developing roller 4 by the brush 14; and a stirring member 8 which is disposed in contact with the nap of the brush 14 of the supply brush roller 7, and which acts so as to scrape toner, sticking to the brush 14, and, at the same time, supply fresh toner to the brush 14. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
