PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device wherein processing in the case where a position not registered as a road in map data becomes an estimated present position is improved. SOLUTION: When map matching of the estimated present position z on a position on a road is unpractical, it is determined which of the estimated present position z and a map matching position y of this time has a stronger probability of being an actual position based on each distance between a map matching position x of the preceding time and each of the estimated present position z and the map matching position y of this time, and when the estimated present position z has a stronger probability of being the actual position, it is determined that a road not registered on the map data exists.
