[Also in Division G2] An overhead projector for projecting a transparency 13 comprises a projection head 16 on a post 17 vertically movable by focusing means 18; and a lamp assembly 14 connected by linkage to the focusing means for moving the lamp in response to, and in the same direction as, movement of the post 17 to maintain the image of the lamp filament in a desired position relative to the head 16. The focusing means comprises a knob 18 which turns a shaft 24 carrying a pinion 23, engaging a rack 22 on the post 17. The linkage comprises a lever 19 pivoted to a bracket 52 and having a slot 55A in which rides a pin 53 when the post 17 is raised. The other end of lever 19 therefore drops and allows an arm 46, to be pulled down by a spring 48, to raise the assembly 14 through pivoted arms 40, 41. When the pin 53 reaches a slot 55B, the assembly 14 remains still while the post 17 rises and operates mechanism (Figs. 4, 5, not shown) to release a catch and slightly raise a lid 12 for access to the projector 13. The projection head 16 comprises lens housings 70, 71 which are connected by an airtight bellows 77 and are pivoted to each other and to a mirror (74, Figs. 7, 8, not shown) therein so that the mirror pivots to keep the optical system coaxial when the housing 71 is pivoted to elevate the image. Change in volume produced by moving housing 71 is compensated by providing a dust filter or bellows (78) at an opening (80) in housing 70. The lamp assembly 14 comprises a frame 35 hinged to a housing 36 and supporting a lamp 30, which plugs into a socket 37 in the housing 36 when the frame 35 is closed.
