The number of windings (1, 2, 3) of the rotor which are traversed by the spider current is different in the positive and in the negative direction of flow as a result of the appropriate arrangement of anti-parallel starting thyristor (7). One or more stationary coils (9, 10, 11) interlinked with the rotor field are used to detect the slip and load angle in the stator of the exciter generator. One coil can have a chording of 2/3 the pole division of the exciter generator and anti-parallel starting thyristors in only one rectifier branch. The coils can be designed as special measuring coils.
