1,236,117. Luminescent screens. RCA CORPORATION. 16 Sept., 1969 [17 Sept., 1968], No. 45608/69. Heading H1D. In a method of metallizing a cathode-ray tube screen by depositing an organic film on a phosphor layer to form a substrate, depositing metal on the substrate, and volatilizing the substrate; the organic film comprises a waterbased emulsion of a water-insoluble filmforming resin .including 0-1-to 4% by weight of the emulsion hydrogen peroxide, and 0-5 to 7À0% of a water-soluble film-forming polymer. The emulsion may also include up to 20% of colloidal silica based on the weight of the water-insoluble resin, which may be an acrylate resin, a polyvinyl acetate resin, a styrene-acrylic-acrylonitrile resin, or a styrene-acrylate resin forming 5-20% by weight of the emulsion. The soluble polymer may be a polyvinyl alcohol, a boric acid complex of polyvinyl alcohol, a gelatin, methyl cellulose, hydroxymethyl cellulose, or a glue. The phosphor screen may be a dot screen, a line screen, a penetration screen or a monochrome screen. |
