PURPOSE: A method for repetitive fed batch culture of microorganism which produces 1,3-propanediol of high concentration is provided. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for producing 1,3-propanediol comprises a reaction tank which is connected to a culture bath containing a stirrer. The reaction tank contains hydrophobic porous carrier. The culture bath is connected to a glycerol storage. The culture bath is CSTR(continuous-flow stirred-tank reactor) and reaction tank is FBR(fixed bed reactor). A method for producing 1,3-propanediol comprises: a step of injecting a medium, microorganism, and glycerol and stirring; a step of filling hydrophobic porous carrier in the reaction tank; a step of injecting the content of the culture bath; a step of re-injecting the discharged material from the reaction tank; and a step of repeating injection to the culture bath.
