1,151,687. Shirring sausage casings. TEE-PAK Inc. 30 June, 1967 [13 July, 1966], No. 30221/67. Heading A2B. In the shirring of synthetic sausage casings the shirring force is sequentially and continuously applied at spaced points around the periphery of the casing, and progressively longitudinally of the casing, along a substantially continuous helical line. The force may be applied in discrete segments, for example by a plurality of rotary means, such as belts or wheels, positioned equiangularly around the periphery of the casing, each of the rotary means having a moving peripheral surface including for example lugs or vacuum suction ports, to apply the shirring force, being positioned at an angle to the direction of peripheral movement such that they co-operate and apply the shirring force along the helical line. |
