<p>Composite single synthetic continuous filament yarn has an internal, integral mainly straight, load supporting core of at least one synthetic continuous filament, which is enclosed by and bonded to a voluminous cover composed of a number of textured synthetic continuous filaments. The core pref. comprises 10-50% of the total titre of the yarn. The textured yarn cover may be bonded to the core by use of a solvent. The core and cover may consist of chemically different material, such as a polyethylene terephthalate core, and a polyamide cover. Alternatively, the whole yarn may consit of polyhexamethyleneadipamide. The yarns obtained have a high degree of voluminosity, a low degree of stretchability, a soft handle, and a lengthwise dimensional stability equivalent to that of conventional yarns. The yarns are particularly suitable for weaving or knitting to fabrics or garments such as sweaters, blouses, rainwear, and other outer clothing.</p> |
