Passing a clock signal for memory accesses from the memory device to a processor

A processor 202 exchanges data with a memory device 252. The interface 250 of the memory device sends a clock signal 242 to the interface 204 of the processor. A latch 224 in the processor latches data from a bidirectional link 240 from the memory device using the clock signal. The clock signal may be generated by a clock source in the memory device 280 or by an external clock source 235. The processor may communicate with several memory devices via the same interface. The memory may be a dynamic random access memory, a static random access memory, a synchronous RAM or a graphics RAM. The processor may be a graphics processor.
