PURPOSE: An automatic focusing system for an infrared camera and a method thereof are provided to rapidly focus a camera on a subject by memorizing focus position in the operation of automatic focusing. CONSTITUTION: An automatic focusing method of an infrared camera comprises following steps. Automatic focusing is performed(S201). As a focal point is moved to the position of a focal point of a frame corresponding to pre-stored information, a first edge value is detected(S205). The focal point is moved to a section which is out of focus(S207). A second edge value is detected(S209). If the focal points are not matched by comparison of the first edge value and the second edge value, the focal point is moved in the direction in which the edge value is greater(S211). If the focal points are matched, the information of the frame corresponding to the matched focal point is stored(S213). |
