<p>A power tool 1 has a tool unit 10 comprising a tool bit 15 driven by an electric motor 12, interchangeable bases 20, 30 allowing the tool to be used for different purposes. The bases may comprise a base having one handle to adapt the tool for use as a trimmer, and a base having two handles 33 for use as a router. A case 11 may be lightweight, made of aluminium and/or plastic having an upper case 11 A and a lower case 11 B. The bases may have cylindrical or tubular support sections 21, 31. The support section may be resilient due to a slit 21a and may have opposed projections 21b receiving a joint rod 23 and clamp lever 25. The tool unit may be received in the support section and lever 25 moved to secure the unit. A stepped portion 21c, 31a may limit movement of the tool unit in the insertion direction. The second base may be a plunge type base, being adjustable in the vertical direction.</p> |
