The invention relates to a process for obtaining a Mg-based hydrogen storage metallic material of the Mg-Ti-Fe-Ni system, used for hydrogen storage in solid media. According to the invention, the process consists in mechanically alloying a mixture of elementary metallic powders within a ball crushing mill, in humid crushing medium of petroleum ether and under argon atmosphere of 99.9%, where the mixture of metallic powders consists of 76% Mg, 12% Ti and 8% Fe, at a grain size of 100μm, and 4% Ni, at a grain size of 10μm, the percentage being expressed by weight, the mill bowl and the crushing balls being made of stainless steel, at a powder/balls charging ratio of 1/10, the rotation of the tank being performed at a speed ratio ranging between 250...450 rpm for 60 h, while the rotation direction is changed each half hour, after the mechanical alloying, the resulting powder being subjected to a tempering and recrystallization thermal treatment, at a temperature ranging between 300...480°C, the time of heat being more than two hours, in a protected argon atmosphere of 99.9% purity.
|
