PURPOSE: A display device and an additional information providing method thereof are provided to supply various additional information to a user without influence in a viewing screen. CONSTITUTION: A first display module(10) displays an image included in reception data. A second display module(20) displays supplementary information. A control unit(40) collects first information supported in received data and second information corresponding to the set up state of the display device. The control unit selectively displays first/second information through the second display module.
