Mfg. a nonwoven fabric with a practically uniform structure comprises (a) depositing threads of yarn or tow in at least two layers according to a predetermined pattern between two rows of holding elements the threads of one layer crossing those of the other layer, and (b) mechanically mixing and tying at least some of the threads of the one layer with some threads of the other layer, while the threads are held firmly by the holding elements. Nonwoven fabrics may be manufactured at high prodn. rates. The fabrics have a very uniform structure. |
