PURPOSE: A rechargeable battery is provided to increase charging/discharging capacity and output performance by reforming the shape of an electrode assembly for receiving volume expansion of the electrode assembly. CONSTITUTION: A rechargeable battery(100) comprises: an electrode assembly(10) having positive and negative electrode plates with a separator interposed therebetween, wherein the electrode assembly is formed so as to have a first cross section having two curved parts positioned at both ends and flat parts interposed between the curved parts; a case(20) housing the electrode assembly; and a cap assembly(30) mounted on the case. |
