PURPOSE: A method for preparing a cerium carbonate-based compound, a method for preparing a cerium oxide, and a crystalline cerium oxide are provided to secure the uniform grain size and the superior polishing property to the cerium oxide by controlling the size, the structure, the shape of a cerium carbonate-based compound crystal. CONSTITUTION: A crystalline cerium oxide includes a plurality of cerium oxide grains. A boundary is formed in each cerium oxide grain in order to define a plurality of crystal grains. The crystal grain includes one or more crystalline cerium oxides. The cerium oxide is obtained by sintering a cerium carbonate-based compound. The cerium carbonate-based compound is obtained by reacting lanthanite-cerium.
