Selenium-contg. alkyl sulphonic acids of type: R1Se.CHR2 CH2 n.CHR3.SO3M (where R1 = an organic residue, -CN or -SO3M; R2 = H or aliphatic alkyl; M = a monovalent metal equivalent; n = 1 or 2), are made by reacting compounds of formula: with a compound R1. SeH, or their salts in solution at 50-100 degrees C, normally in stoichiometric proportions. R1 is preferably an open-chain, cycloaliphatic, or aromatic residue, which or without one or more hetero-atoms, -CN or -SO3M. The products are used as inhibitors in chemical plating. |
