PURPOSE: A heat treatment furnace for carburizing and hardening metal is provided to reduce consumption of electric energy since carburization gas is directly heated by a heater. CONSTITUTION: A heat treatment furnace for carburizing and hardening metal comprises an anvil(150), a retort(160), a kanthal heater(170), a fan device(175), and a muffle(180). The anvil is arranged on the floor side of a body(110). The retort is mounted in the anvil into a cylindrically shape. The kanthal heater is placed between the sidewall of the body and the retort. The fan device is installed at the center of a door(120). The muffle is installed on the lower surface of the door and guides the flow of gas.
