<p>The fibrous base fabric is passed in an expanded state to a chain knitting machine operating with pointed latch needles, which in inserting the lines of chain stitching, pulls fibres through the fabric to form a fibrous loop with each stitch. Pref. the fabric is compressed between the beating up reed and a pressure plate after insertion of the stitches. The fibrous loops firmly tie the stitches into the base fabric.</p> |
