Described is an ultrasonic welding device (1), comprising a sonotrode (8) an d an anvil (7) for welding foil layers together by introducing a force. The foil layers are thereby located in a receiving gap (6) provided between an effective plane (11) of the sonotrode (8) and an effective plane (12) of the anvil (7). In order to improve the quality of the welding seams a component () of the force introduction, which is directed opposite to the direction o f the gravity (G), is generated.
