PURPOSE: An ignition control apparatus for a Chinese food cooking range and a method thereof are provided to reduce fuel consumption for cooking Chinese food. CONSTITUTION: An ignition control apparatus for a Chinese food cooking range comprises a main valve, a volume limit switch, a pilot valve, a sensor(110), and a controller. The main valve opens and closes a gas pipe for combustion of the main flame of a gas range. The volume limit switch controls the air output of a blower supplying the air for the combustion of the main flame. The pilot valve controls the flow of the gas for the combustion of the pilot flame to ignite the main flame. The sensor comprises a transmitter(111) and a receiver(112). The controller opens the pilot valve when an operation/stop button is turned on. The controller cuts off the pilot valve when the operation/stop button is turned off.
