The panel has a light guide plate (1) comprising fields illuminated by light bars (5), and placed against a metal plate having a peripheral edge (3). One of dimensions e.g. thickness, of the metal plate is greater than that of the light guide plate, so as to form a peripheral groove (4) in which the light bars are placed. A maintaining unit maintains a rear face of each bar against an internal face (3a) of the peripheral edge. The light bars are applied against the internal face of the edge by elastically deformable U shaped wedges.
