The device has a double action hydraulic positioning unit (6) including a hydraulic jack with a piston rod (40), where the rod is at a neutral position with respect to the hydraulic jack. Mounting dampers are arranged between a vehicle structure e.g. cradle, and the axle that is in relation action with the positioning unit. A positioning piston (22) is displaced in a limited manner with respect to the piston rod. The positioning piston is arranged in a groove (47) of the piston rod.
