PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical process for producing optically active adamantylpropionic acid. SOLUTION: The process for producing optically active adamantylpropionic acid comprises a step of reacting 2-(1-adamantyl)propionic acid with an amine selected from the group consisting of (A-1) to (A-4) to form a diastereomer salt, a step of depositing part of the obtained diastereomer salt to obtain a purified diastereomer salt, and a step of obtaining optically active 2-(1-adamantyl)propionic acid from the purified diastereomer salt.
