PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flake like laminar compound excellent in optical absorption in a visible light area and adsorption to organic compounds and having a high photocatalytic activity, a photocatalyst containing the flake like laminar compound, and an adsorbent to the organic compounds. SOLUTION: The flake like laminar compound, wherein a lamella structure composed of a titanate crystal layer and/or a niobate crystal layer and a surfactant layer is included and the surfactant is an aliphatic diamine having amino groups at both ends, is provided.
