PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion device which can fully reduce the ripples of a voltage by using a small-capacity capacitor, even when the frequency of a voltage of AC power is low. SOLUTION: The power conversion device includes a bipolar/semipolar power conversion circuit which converts bipolar AC power into semipolar power, and outputs the semipolar power and a smoothing capacitor which reduces the ripples of the voltage of the semipolar power, and the device also includes a higher-frequency circuit which increases the ripples contained in the voltage of the semipolar power outputted by the bipolar/semipolar power conversion circuit to a prescribed frequency, and outputs the voltage of the semipolar power to the smoothing capacitor.
