<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system which can take out excellently prescribed electric energy by holding excellently wet condition of an electrolyte membrane of a fuel cell body upon system starting (upon power generation operation start) and promoting electrochemical reaction concerning the power generation operation, and to provide a fuel container for power generation applicable to the fuel cell system. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell system is provided with a fuel cartridge 20 in which a power generation fuel and water are individually filled, a reformer 12 which reforms the power generation fuel to take out hydrogen gas, a power generating cell 11 which generates electric energy by electrochemical reaction using hydrogen gas and oxygen, a fuel supply controller 14 and a water supply controller 15 which take out the power generation fuel and water individually from the fuel cartridge 20 and supply to the reformer 12 and the power generating cell 11.
