<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming material excellent in light resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The image-forming material contains a perimidine-based squarylium dye, of which the structure shows diffraction peaks at least at Bragg angles (2θ±0.2°) of 17.7°, 19.9°, 22.1°, 23.2° and 24.9° in its X-ray powder diffraction spectrum measured by irradiation of X-rays generated from Cu target with a wavelength of 1.5405 Å and the full width at half maximum of the diffraction peak shown at the 24.9° of 0.8° or less.
