PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve miniaturization and the number saving of wires by a compact constitution. SOLUTION: A displacement information/directional information generating part 2 generates at least two-phase position information signals including the relative displacements between a scale 11 and a detection unit 1 and the direction of the displacements on the basis of electric signals output from a detection unit 1. An information conversion part 3 for transmission converts the position information signals into data for transmission as signals for transmission for one digital signal. A power supply superposition part 4 superposes the data for transmission on a power supply voltage supplied for an encoder data/power supply line 5 comprising a power supply line and a GND wire and transmits it to an encoder information reproduction part 10.
