PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pump device considering other performance such as safety and stability while enabling highly efficient operation. SOLUTION: The heat pump device 100 includes a compressor 11, a radiator 12, an expansion device 13 and an evaporator 14. A bypass route 23 and an auxiliary suction route 22 are branched from a main high pressure route 21. Valves 24-26 are provided in the respective routes. The heat pump device 100 further includes a valve control part 42 and a control policy selection part 50. The valve control part 42 is constituted to control the valves 24-26 in accordance with any of a plurality of control policies. The control policy selection part 50 selects one control policy from the plurality of control policies in accordance with an operating condition, and makes the valve control part 42 control the valves 24-26 in accordance with the selected policy.
